FAQ: MicroBase Pro Data Locations

 
  The following information describes the locations of your MicroBase Pro Data Files. If you are unfamiliar or uncomfortable working with Windows folders and files,  you may need to obtain help from your IT Professional.
 

Where Do I Find My MicroBase Pro Data Files?

Your MicroBase Pro Data Files are located in the MicroBase Pro Data Folder. This folder will normally utilize a structure that looks like "Dss\MicroBase".

Your MicroBase Pro Data Folder may be located in one of several locations, depending on your Windows Version, MicroBase Pro Version and also the configuration of your PC. To determine your MicroBase Pro Version, use the following checklist:

  • Start MicroBase Pro
  • Click Help - About MicroBase ...
  • Your MicroBase Pro version will be displayed
  • Click OK when done.

 

Where Is My MicroBase Pro Data Folder?

Your MicroBase Pro Data Folder will ordinarily be located in one of the following folders.

If You Are Running MicroBase Pro v2.2 And Above

  • Windows XP (or earlier): C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Dss\MicroBase
  • Windows Vista (or later): C:\Users\Public\Documents\Dss\MicroBase

If You Are Running MicroBase Pro v2.1 (obsolete version)

  • Windows 32-Bit: C:\Program Files\Dss\MicroBase
  • Windows 64-Bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\Dss\MicroBase

If You Are Running MicroBase Pro v2.0 (obsolete version)

  • Windows 32-Bit: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Dss\MicroBase
  • Windows 64-Bit: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Dss\MicroBase

 
What Are Archived Database Files?

Whenever you install a new version, update or manually select the archive function, MicroBase Pro will create an archive of the entire database in the archive folder which lives directly under the MicroBase Pro Data Folder. For example, under Windows 10, the archive folder will look like this:

  • Archive Folder:  C:\Users\Public\Documents\Dss\MicroBase\archive

Inside the Archive folder you will find one or more folders starting with the characters "MB" followed by date, time, record count and reason for creating the archive. For example, an archive folder might be named as follows:

  • MB-20180101-103000-2357-(update)

This archive folder above was created on 1 Jan 2018 at 10:30 and contains 2357 Data Items. The reason for creating the archive was that an update to MicroBase Pro was performed.

Note: Beginning with MicroBase Pro v2.20, you can have MicroBase Pro automatically archive your database files every xx days.

Note: Beginning with MicroBase Pro v2.21, you can have MicroBase Pro automatically copy your archive to a network drive.


 
Where Are My MicroBase Messages?

MicroBase Pro messages are stored in the msgs\inbox and msgs\outbox subfolders which live directly under the MicroBase Pro Data Folder. For example, under Windows 10, the message folders will look like this:

  • Inbox: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Dss\MicroBase\msgs\inbox
  • Outbox: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Dss\MicroBase\msgs\outbox

Note: Beginning with MicroBase Pro v2.20, you can have MicroBase Pro automatically archive your messages along with the auto archive.
