Common licensing questions:

1. How Many Computers Can My MicroBase Pro Software Be Installed On? MicroBase Pro software is generally licensed for installation and use on a single computer. If your company needs to use the software on more than one computer, you will need to obtain an additional license for each additional computer. Contact your authorized DSS Sales Representative for price quotation. Multiple Logins: On a given licensed computer installation, several different MicroBase Network users can log on and use the MicroBase Pro software. This means that only one person uses the program at a time. Server Installation/Operation: DSS does not recommend that MicroBase Pro be installed on a server. If you are concerned with keeping your MicroBase Pro installation backed up (an excellent idea), we suggest that you use the following scheme:
Multi-User Operation: Don't attempt this. MicroBase Pro does not support multi-user file/record locking facilities which are required for Multi-User operation. Attempts to operate MicroBase Pro in a Multi-User environment will most certainly result in database corruption. |

2. We Need To Use MicroBase Pro On
Several PCs. What About Volume Discounts For MicroBase Pro Licenses? Depending on the number of licenses needed, you may be eligible for a volume discounts. Volume discounts can make using MicroBase Pro on several computers very affordable. Pricing: Check with your authorized DSS Sales Representative for information about volume pricing. Please note that licenses purchased under a volume discount must be ordered together. |

3. I Need To Install And Authorize
MicroBase Pro But Have Misplaced My License And Authorization Info First, try to locate your original MicroBase Pro license. Check all of the materials in your kit for your license. Keep in mind that MicroBase Pro licenses have been supplied in different ways:
If you still can't locate your license and authorization info, you may be able to retrieve it from an old computer if it still has a functional installation of MicroBase Pro. Use the following steps to retrieve your MicroBase Pro authorization information from your old installation:

4. How Do I Change My MicroBase Pro
Authorization Key Info? If you have obtained a new Authorization key and your computer already has MicroBase Pro installed with different Authorization key info, you can use the following steps to change Authorization key info:

5. How Can I Replace My Lost MicroBase Pro
License and/or Authorization Key? You cannot install or operate MicroBase Professional software without a valid License, and Authorization Key. If you have lost your License or Authorization Key, and would like to avoid having to purchase a new MicroBase Pro license, you may be able to purchase a Replacement License P/N 1600-3 from the sales department at DSS Headquarters. It is a good idea to thoroughly search for your original license and Installation Media before ordering a replacement. Up through July 2019, the MicroBase Pro installation CD was shipped in a 6"x9" white envelope with the MicroBase Pro license printed on one side, with a sticker affixed to the license which contains your license's unique MicroBase Pro Authorization Key. Below the authorization key sticker are the words "DO NOT LOSE THIS KEY - YOU CANNOT INSTALL OR OPERATE MICROBASE PRO WITHOUT IT". After July 2019, the MicroBase Pro installer is available via download on the DSS Website and the MicroBase Pro license is supplied either on a printed sheet shipped with your order, or in an email able PDF document for faster access. If you cannot locate your original MicroBase Pro License and need to order a replacement, gather as much of the following information as possible for use by the DSS Sales Department in researching your request:
Once you have collected the above information, contact the sales department at DSS Sales Department and order a MicroBase Pro Replacement License Pack P/N 1600-3. If it can be established that you or your company legitimately owns a MicroBase Pro license then you can order a replacement for a faction of the cost of a new license. In order to fulfill an order for a Replacement License, the sales department must have the following information:

6. How Can I Upgrade From MicroBase v1.x
to MicroBase Pro
v2.x? Before you order your MicroBase Pro v2.x upgrade, gather as much of the following information as possible for use by the DSS Sales Department in researching your request:

If it can be established that you or your company legitimately owns a MicroBase v1.x license, then you can order a MicroBase Pro v2.x upgrade at a discount from the cost of a new license. The MicroBase Pro Upgrade License Pack contains the following items:

7. Can MicroBase Pro Licenses Be
Transferred To A New Owner? Yes they can. If the current license owner agrees to transfer or destroy all installation media, licenses and other materials associated with the MicroBase Pro software, the license can be transferred to a new party, provided the new party agrees with the terms of the License Agreement.
Keep in mind that
Authorization keys are coded to the License Owner's name and
Facility/Location. Therefore the original License
Owner's name will appear on the MicroBase Pro installation and all printed reports.
If you would like to have the transferred
MicroBase Pro license re-issued with your company name, contact the DSS Sales Department,
provide a photocopy of the original MicroBase Pro License Agreement
and Authorization Key, and tell them you
would like to order the following item: If you cannot locate the original
MicroBase Pro License and Authorization key, gather as much of the following information as possible for use by the
DSS Sales
Department in researching your request: Once you have collected the above
information, contact the sales department at
DSS Sales Department and
order a MicroBase Pro Replacement License
Pack P/N 1600-3 with
License Owner Name Change. If it can be established that you or your
company is eligible for a MicroBase Pro license transfer, then your order
will be processed. In order to fulfill an
order for a Replacement License Pack with Name Change, the sales department
must have the following information: The MicroBase Pro Replacement
License Pack with Name Change contains the
following items: Note: The original purchaser of the
MicroBase Pro software may be asked to verify in writing to DSS that they
have released all installation media, licenses and other materials to the new owner
before the Authorization key is re-issued. |

8. How Can I Have My Licensed Owner and/or
Location Changed? If your company name or location has changed, you can order a re-issued authorization key for a nominal charge. Contact the DSS Sales Department and order the following item:
Typographical errors in License Owner's name and Location will be corrected at no additional charge if requested within 90 days of purchase. |

9. My New MicroBase Pro License Is
Missing The Authorization Information. How Do I Obtain My Authorization Key? Sometimes original MicroBase License Packs are shipped to intermediate parties (such as equipment brokers), and are to be delivered to the end user at a later time. When this is the case, DSS may not be able to determine the eventual end user, and so will ship the MicroBase License Pack without the Authorization Key sticker. If this is the case with your purchase, then contact DSS Sales Department and supply the following information so that an authorization key may be created for your license:
Your MicroBase Pro Authorization Key will be emailed to you once the above information has been verified. When you have received your Authorization Key email, print the Authorization Key and include it with your MicroBase Pro License Pack in case you need to install the software on a new computer at some future date. |
