FAQ: MV2 Getting Started With Track And Balance

  If you are new to the MicroVib II Aircraft Analyzer Helicopter Kit, the following steps will get you started with helicopter Track and Balance in the fastest and easiest way possible.

1. Contact DSS To Obtain Factory Certified Training

DSS offers a variety of FAA Approved training classes to get you started using the MicroVib II Aircraft Analyzer in the most efficient way possible. Click here to read about our FAA Approved classes.

When you are ready to get started, contact one of the DSS Field Offices to schedule your training with a DSS Certified Training Specialist. Click here to view a list of DSS Field Offices that offer DSS certified training.

2. Familiarize Yourself With The MicroVib II Users Manual

Read the MicroVib II Users Manual sections on Rotor Balancing and Rotor Blade Tracking. Note that these sections are generic and do not deal with particular helicopter models. Proceed to step 3 below to obtain detailed information about using the MicroVib II on your specific model.

3. Download The Appropriate MicroVib II Application Note For Your Aircraft

MicroVib II Application Notes describe how to use the MicroVib II Aircraft Analyzer on your particular helicopter model. You must have the appropriate Application Note in order to work your helicopter efficiently. Click here for application note download information.

4. Download The Appropriate MicroVib II Group File To Your Computer And Upload to Your MV2

MicroVib II Group Files contain the setup information which configures the MicroVib II to work your particular helicopter model. You will need to download the appropriate group file for your helicopter model and then upload the group file to your MicroVib II. Click here for group file download and upload information. Group Files can be customized to better match your aircraft configuration and behavior. MicroVib II Group Templates are example group files which are permanently programmed into the MicroVib II firmware. They are cannot be modified and are generally not updated. Group Templates are kept up to date and should only be used for training / reference purposes.

5. Download The Appropriate Machine File To Your MicroBase Pro Installation

In order to perform advanced vibration analysis on spectrum data files collected by your MicroVib II, you will need to download the appropriate Machine File for your target machine to your MicroBase Pro installation. Click here for Machine File download information.

6. Obtain Technical Support From DSS

Once you have accomplished the above steps, you will be ready to perform Track and Balance on your helicopter.
