FAQ: MicroBase Pro Data Backup And Restore

The following information describes the locations of your MicroBase Pro Data Files. You or your IT Professional need to know these locations in order to make sure that your MicroBase Pro installation is being backed up regularly. DSS strongly recommends that you back up your MicroBase Data so in the event of a computer failure, you won't lose your valuable work.

What Files Should I Back Up?

Your MicroBase Pro installation consists of two types of files:

  • MicroBase Pro Program Files
  • MicroBase Pro Data Files

You do not need to back up your MicroBase Pro Program Files. These files are contained on your MicroBase Pro installation CD. In the event of a computer failure, you can repair or replace your computer and then re-install MicroBase Pro and all of your program files will be restored. If you previously installed one version of MicroBase Pro and then Auto-Updated to a later version, go ahead and install the version on your original CD and then run the Auto-Update process to obtain the latest version.

You should back up your MicroBase Pro Data Files. These files contain your MicroBase Pro Data that was collected by the MicroVib II Aircraft Analyzer and then downloaded to your MicroBase Pro installation. Since these data files are not located on your MicroBase Pro Install CD, you must be very careful to insure they are backed up properly so that in the event of a computer failure, you can restore your entire installation easily.
