Note: MicroBase Professional v2.x updates are provided to all MicroBase Professional license owners at no charge. If you own a MicroBase System v1.x license, click here to see about upgrading your license to MicroBase Professional.

Warning: Always backup your database before running an update. You can quickly backup your MicroBase Pro database by running the archive feature (Database - Archive Database) or by exporting your database to a local file (for example: my_data.mbx).

3. Before You Begin The Update Process

  • Make sure you must have appropriate permissions to install/update software applications.

4. How Do I Update My MicroBase Pro?

There are two methods of auto-updating and one method of manually updating MicroBase Pro. Which method you should use depends on several factors.

If MicroBase Pro was properly installed on your PC, you should be able to auto-update using method A or B below. If MicroBase Pro was not properly installed, or if your firewall/proxy blocks the updater program, then you will need to download the MicroBase Pro installer and update manually.

Note: If you find any of these steps confusing, you may want to obtain assistance from your IT Professional.

A. Auto-Update Using The Windows Start Menu

  • To use this method, your PC must have a direct Internet connection.
  • This Auto-Update method works with all versions of MicroBase Pro.
  • If you have MicroBase Pro v2.10 (or earlier), you must use this method.
  • If you have MicroBase Pro installed, but it was never activated, we recommend you use this method.
  • If you have MicroBase Pro installed, but you cannot start the program, then you must use this method.
  • For instructions on Auto-Update using the Windows Start Menu, click Update Using Windows Start Menu.

 B. Auto-Update Using The MicroBase Menu

  • To use this method, your PC must have a direct Internet connection.
  • If you have MicroBase Pro v2.11 or later, you can use this method.
  • If you have MicroBase Pro v2.11 or later and you have activated and/or used the software at least once, we recommend you use this method.
  • For instructions on Auto-Update using the MicroBase Menu, click Update Using MicroBase Pro.

 C. Perform Manual MicroBase Pro Update

  • If your PC does not have a direct Internet connection, such as when operating behind a proxy server, you must use the manual update method.
  • If the MicroBase Pro updater is not found on your PC, then MicroBase Pro was most likely copied to the computer, rather than properly installed. When this is the case, you will need to use the manual update method.
  • To perform a manual update of MicroBase Pro, go to the MicroBase Pro Download Page and follow the instructions to download and manually install the most recent version of the software.

Important: When updating an existing MicroBase Pro installation, one must take great care to select the correct target folder to insure data from the old program will be included in the new database.
